‘Confronting roadworker abuse’: a new webinar continuing an important conversation

On 4^th November at 2pm, Re‑flow, RAISE, RSTA, and Jointline will come together for a special pre‑recorded webinar exploring one of the most pressing issues facing the highways sector today: roadworker abuse.

From verbal abuse and intimidation, to threats of violence and dangerous incursions, abuse incidents have become an increasingly common reality for road workers across the country.

We explored the latest figures in our Health and safety in highways report 2026.

‘Every roadworker deserves to go home safe’, a documentary produced by Re‑flow in partnership with RAISE (Roadworker Abuse Incident Support & Education), explored the scale of the issue – including first-hand accounts of incidents and the impact abuse has on the workers on the receiving end.

The message is clear. Greater awareness and action are needed across the sector – and in collaboration with our industry partners we’re continuing the conversation.

Moving beyond awareness

Across the industry, organisations, charities, associations, and contractors are working together to ensure that improving the situation remains high on the agenda. For example, initiatives like No Excuse for Roadworker Abuse (NEFRA) are helping to drive the conversation forward and to reinforce a collective commitment to protecting frontline workers.

Awareness alone, however, is not enough.

A new webinar, ‘Confronting roadworker abuse’, aims to explore what meaningful action would look like, while also investigating how businesses, industry bodies, and individuals can work together to make significant improvements.
