10 improvements MJL saw after rolling out Re-flow Field Management (Part 2)

10 improvements MJL saw after rolling out Re-flow Field Management (Part 2)

In part 1, we began looking at how specialised field management software – Re-flow Field Management – changed site operations at MJL Group.

Re‑flow is a piece of specialist field operations software built for highways, civils, groundworks, and commercial landscaping – covering the end-to-end flow of work from pre‑site visits to scheduling, compliance, and auditing.

MJL Group are a groundworks business operating with 50 live sites and 500600 employees.

In part 2, we’ll take a deeper look at how Re‑flow supports MJL’s growth, improves client reporting, and helps maintain consistency across the business.

6) MJL maintained control of operations as the business grew

As MJL expanded to more sites across a wider geographic area, maintaining visibility and consistency became more difficult.

Multiple sites, more teams, and an increasing distance between projects meant that information was harder to collect and track.

Before introducing Re‑flow, this limited oversight. Teams could be days behind in identifying issues, with the business chasing missing information after the event.

Once workflows were digitised, data was captured on site and made available immediately, giving management real‑time visibility across projects, including the results and status of every check and form.

7) Clients received reporting tailored to their requirements

MJL built reporting around the demands of its clients, including major house builders. Different clients had different expectations, and the business created bespoke audit templates in Re‑flow to meet each of them. This makes MJL’s reporting a more professional process and gave clients visibility of the standards being achieved on site.

8) Re‑flow is suitable for new and experienced staff of all skill levels

Consistency across sites improved because processes are defined and enforced through Re‑flow.

In construction you have a multitude of abilities and a multitude of ages – the full spectrum,” says Luke Serpell, MJL’s quality systems manager. We have apprentices that have just come on, and people that have been doing this forty, fifty years. We needed a solution that works for every single individual, and Re‑flow can be tailored to simplify the process.”

Luke says Re‑flow makes life easier for workers of all abilities and experience levels, increasing the likelihood that they are completed correctly.

Re‑flow is a very easy manageable system to work and we can set it up that we can remove a lot of unnecessary items from daily lists. It cuts down the workload. It’s more manageable. Teams can stay on top of it. They produce a better product and we’re ultimately getting the same data that we need. They’re compliant in health and safety. Re‑flow is really user-friendly.”

9) Information reaches the right people automatically

Previously for MJL, once work was completed, workers still needed to send emails, choose recipients, and make sure the right people were informed. Every additional step created an opportunity for delays, missed updates, or inconsistent communication.

When a form is submitted or a check is completed with Re‑flow, information is distributed automatically to whoever needs to see it.

This means shorter delays between work being completed and decisions being made, fewer communication gaps, less administrative overhead, and better coordination between departments.

10) The entire business adopted the system because it saved everyone time

At no point do I want to replace anyone, but what I would prefer to do is make everyone’s job easier so they can do their job better,” says Luke Serpell.

Adopting Re‑flow across MJL went smoothly because people could see a direct benefit from the software in their day‑to‑day work.

Rather than adding administration, the system reduced the amount of time spent on paperwork and manual processes from site level to decision makers.
