Mike Saunders, the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Re-flow, is setting out on a mission to raise awareness and money for the suicide prevention charity, PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide, and inspire the industries we serve to reach out if warning signs of suicidal behaviour are manifesting. Over many years of working with professionals in highways, construction and rail, Mike learned that there was disproportionate number of workers taking their own lives in these sectors, with suicide being the biggest killer of under 35’s. Now, he aims to take action and utilise his passion for running to help make positive change, and voice that people are not alone.
Outside of the office and his responsibilities as Managing Director, Mike spends a lot of his time active and on the move, being an avid long-distance runner and martial artist. Over the years, he's built up his endurance and technique through amassing hundreds of hours of running experience, participating in numerous marathons and ultra-marathons. Now, he's aiming to push his body to the limits and face his greatest running challenge yet.
Starting from the 7th of March, Mike will start his day by running from his home in Cheriton Fitzpaine to our office in Exeter, and end his working day by once again running the same route back home - 10 miles and 1,000 feet of elevation, twice a day, 5 days a week, for 4 weeks.
If you, or someone you know are struggling with thoughts of self-harm or suicide - you're not alone. PAPYRUS offers confidential suicide prevention advice through a number of channels, staffed by trained suicide prevention advisers, open 9am - Midnight every day.
