Our team recently attended the Building Innovation Awards 2022, held at Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. The ceremony was a celebration of outstanding innovative practices from throughout the construction industry. Firms of all sizes from across the country were in attendance, including Re-flow, represented by Ashley Wing and Josh Sims. Not only did we have the privilege of being in attendance, but we also had the honour of delivering the award for most innovative SME – our sponsored category.

The event began with an inspired talk from Maria Coulter, Managing Director of Construction Coach. She spoke on the challenges faced by women in the construction industry, as well as sustainable business development and growth. Following Maria were the event partners - the Riff Raff Society. The Riff Raff Society is a Manchester-based charity who work with the local community to help fund life changing projects for those in need. At the event, their team focused on Nicole, a local woman whose life had been drastically affected by Motor Neuron Disease. Using the event as a platform to secure vital funds to support Nicole’s battle against the condition, they raised a staggering £2,500 by the end of the night.

Afterwards, the attendees had the opportunity to enjoy dinner, which also provided a chance to network with the many industry professionals in attendance. The meal was followed by a short comedy set from Justin Moorhouse who kept the crowd entertained and built excitement for the main event of the night – the awards ceremony.

A total of twenty-two awards were given out throughout the night. These celebrated all things related to innovation, spanning a wide range of categories including Most Innovative On-Site Monitoring Tool, Best Use of Drones in a Construction Project, Most Innovative New Product for both software and hardware as well as Most Innovative SME. It was a delight to see industry-leading pioneers being recognised for their hard work and celebrating among their peers.

Our team had the honour of sponsoring and presenting the award for Most Innovative SME. Several nominees were up for the award that night, including Alternative Heat, Plan A Consultants and TrustMgt. Ultimately, the award went to TrustMgt, a leading open space management company based in Cheshire. Founded in 2013, the business provides an unrivalled specialist service for developers, private asset owners and landlords, encompassing all aspects of open space management and development. The award was presented by Re-flow's own Ashley Wing, Head of Sales and Marketing, who coincidentally shared a table with the TrustMgt team for the night.

The event rounded out with more celebration in the form of karaoke that lasted into the early hours - a fantastic way to conclude such a successful event. We’re looking forward to attending even more awards this coming year, so make sure to follow us through our social channels for the latest coverage.
